Coffee Rings
Coffee rings
Coffee stains
Past people
Moving on
We laugh, and laugh, and laugh,
Lovers’ breakfast
Drug of choice
Mood Swings
Ruined furniture
Remember the coasters.
Kiss and make-up
Clinging to a cup
Escape the cold
Dunk, and Dunk, and Dunk,
Awaiting the aroma of
Coffee beans brewing
More for two
Too much for one,
Remember the coasters.
Double the rings
Daily routines
Starting Over, and Over, and Over,
A Time to go
A Time to stay
Drink some more
Never put away
For the love of God,
Please use a coaster.
I don’t want your rings,
The promises people bring
With a cup of coffee.
Let’s go to a café
Sip tea instead
Leave rings
Where they’re not permanent
And call this,
a Temporary relationship.
